Although BOTOX® was the first FDA-approved neuromodulator in the USA, we also have Dysport®. Dysport® is chemically very similar to BOTOX® and has been used overseas for some time. Dysport® can be thought of as interchangeable with BOTOX® although some patients have a preference for one over the other. The method of injection, action and duration are similar with only slight nuances particular to each.
Customized Dysport® treatments are a great choice for anyone who would like dramatic results, but does not want to undergo a surgical procedure. A safe and popular treatment, these medications are used to help reduce the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles.
Dysport® is natural, purified protein that is injected into muscles that cause wrinkles in the face, temporarily relaxing them. Dysport® treatments leave the overlying skin smooth and unwrinkled, while untreated facial muscles are unaffected, allowing normal facial expressions.
Dysport® is commonly used to treat “frown lines” between the eyes and brows, “crow’s feet” that flank the eyes, forehead wrinkles, and occasionally, thick bands in the neck.
During treatment, extremely small needles are coupled with advanced injection techniques are used to provide an essentially painless experience. There is virtually no recovery time with Dysport® and our patients notice that their wrinkles begin to fade one to three days after treatment. Results can last from three to five months. Additional Dysport® treatments are recommended every three to five months to maintain the improved appearance. For maximum skin rejuvenation, Dysport® may be combined with soft tissue fillers, microdermabrasion and other skin resurfacing treatments available at Hillstrom Facial Plastic Surgery.
